This song should be our number one in the list since we think it was destined this song was written for our brand. However, if we set our fantasy aside, ‘I Got Stripes’ is our number nine in the Stripes Clothing top 10 prison songs.
 

After watching the classic movie ‘Inside the Walls of Folsom Prison,’ Cash wrote Folsom Prison Blues. It reflected Cash’ perception on prison life. – we’ll talk about this song another time, it’s going to be in the top three.

Cash’ wrote this song after he visited some prisons for inspiration. The lyrics are roughly based on another song from Leadbelly called ‘On a Monday
Leadbelly who died in 1949 was a great inspiration for many artists, including Cash, Nirvana and Ram

Jam who made a hard rock version of Black Betty and scored a big hit.

The lyrics of ‘I Got Stripes’ are about the story of getting imprisoned and is sung from the perspective of a prisoner. This was one of the songs Johnny Cash played during his live concerts in Folsom Prison.
 

I Got Stripes is a perfect reflection of our brand and is truly reflected in our 50’s Stripes shirt which will be available again from next week.
